I've taken notes together with photos on every course I've played equip me to write the review at a later date.

Reviews are based on my impressions for the course on the day(s) As i played, and it really should be noted that conditions and every so often even the layout may have changed since I enjoyed.

All of the Michigan the game reviews are from the perspective on the bogey golfer, and I place reduced on fun. I love courses that you think a little, and that don't understand they can count solely on length because of their defense. Also important to me is to be able to walk the course. I've noted few courses where walking to be real not practical. Too regularly, I believe, courses ban walking to add extra profits from that carts. Finally, I try to look for value. A course that sets a high bar by claiming "championship" status and charging a premium price need to be very good. A course that good golf at your bargain price gets excellent marks for meeting or exceeding their particular standards.

Euopean Tour Chief Executive: ‘Many Of Sergio Garcia’s Friends Are Colored.’ D’oh! You’re Not Helping!

Aren't the guys in the suits supposed to be the ones who say all the right things? Not in the European Golf Tour, where its chief executive, George O'Grady (pictured, far left), enmeshed himself in the Tiger Woods-Sergio Garcia feud in a most embarrassing way.

Garcia of course went overboard on Tuesday, saying that if he served Tiger Woods dinner it would be "fried chicken." Many consider that a racist remark, and Garcia apologized, twice. Lots of folks figured that might finally end their feud (which dates to 1999), but apparently they were wrong.

The European Tour has decided not to punish Garcia for the fried chicken remark, which he made at the European Tour Awards Dinner in London. That left O'Grady open to charges that the Tour was being too cozy with Garcia. In a statement denying this, O'Grady made things worse. Key excerpt:

"We know the connotation in the United States. We accept all races on the European Tour, we take it very strongly. Most of Sergio's friends are coloured athletes in the United States and he is absolutely abject in his apology and we accepted it."

O'Grady later apologised for using the term "coloured", saying: "I deeply regret using an inappropriate word in a live interview for Sky Sports for which I unreservedly apologise."

That's the problem when you have a controversy that reaches across oceans and spans different cultures and sensibilities. Garcia is Spanish, and was speaking in Britain about an American golfer who has roots in the U.S. and Thailand. That's a lot of different opportunities to screw up. But O'Grady is paid to negotiate that landscape. He should know better.

The Top 5 Things The Knicks Need To Address This Offseason

Last night, the New York Knicks concluded their best season in 13 years with a gutsy effort against the living matchup-conundrum that is The Indiana Pacers. Despite unacceptably sub-par performances from Raymond Felton, Tyson Chandler, J.R. Smith, and Jason Kidd, they managed to grab the lead during the late 3rd early 4th quarter and entertain the idea of bringing the series to yet another Game 7. If nothing else, it was fun to watch and a nice break from the bricklaying contests of the previous few games.

Nothing is worse than playing beyond your means (unless you win a championship). Professional sports are littered with examples illustrating how a few lucky bounces in the short term can derail a franchise in the long term. As a lifelong Knick fan, I point to Allen Houston, whose 1999 tear drop against the one seed Miami Heat propelled the Knicks to one of the biggest upsets in NBA history, ultimately sending them to The Finals, and the poor house.

For 10+ seasons, the Knicks fought off the ghosts of this contract. Was a 4-1 series thrashing by the vastly superior Spurs, who were on the cusp of a dynasty, worth it? Of course not. That's why the Knicks getting ousted by The Pacers, in the fashion they did, is just what the doctor ordered, because it exposed the inherent weaknesses of this team. No lucky bounces. No J.R. Smith 20 point 4th quarters. Just mediocre team basketball.

1)Long perimeter defender. If you noticed over the series how inept The Knicks on-ball defense was vis á vis Indiana's, it's because Indiana has long perimeter defenders and New York doesn't. George Hill has a ridiculous 6'9″ wingspan. Paul George is 6'9″ with a wingspan of 7 feet. Hell, David West can defend big three-guards and small forwards and has an insane 7'4″ wingspan and he's 6'9″ as well. All strong, laterally quick players with defensive brains. The Knicks need to upgrade their guards with an eye on these type of attributes, because all series The Pacers out rebounded them, got in passing lanes, and contested every single shot.

2)Viable offensive post player. Unfortunately, they have two more years left on Amar'e's contract, so a big signing here is next to impossible. But as we saw with Kenyon Martin — you don't have to make a big splash to get in the pool. The Knicks need a legitimate big with literally one post move to diversify their scoring (sorry Tyson, tipping balls out to half court doesn't count). It can't be all fade aways and circus shots. A high percentage baby hook from the block is worth it's weight in gold, as it prevents defensive centers like Roy Hibbert from wandering around the paint and blocking Carmelo Anthony's dunk attempts.

3)Crafty passing PG. A lot of these suggestions are ubiquitous needs — partly because they're hard to find. Every team wants a crafty passing PG. The Knicks, who struggle with ball movement, need one. Badly. Raymond Felton is about as far from a decent passing point guard as NBA PGs get (see: his patented drive, turn, start fast break from the other team method). This actualizes Tyson Chandler's potential and keeps everyone awake in a inevitably isolation-centric offense.

4)No more J.R. Smith. I love J.R. Smith. He's awesome. Both on and off the court. But much like your best friend from your freshman year of college, J.R. smokes pot in your dorm room when you're not there (he's not even your roommate!). Some players dramatically change the development of young players, and J.R. and Iman Shumpert party together. That's gotta stop. NBA teams do the same thing with Zach Randolph, because he's an animal and corrupts younger guys (apparently he sells weed). J.R. has a ton of potential, but mentally, he's not qualified to wield it with enough reliability. Develop Shumpert to be his successor and ditch the pipe-master. Rihanna has suggested he's an alcoholic. His ups and downs and posts on Twitter and Instagram corroborate this. Sorry, but he's gotta go. For a veteran team, the 2013 Knicks were incredibly immmature (whined at 99% of calls). Cut out the frat boys and build the team with solid people — not work/release projects.

5)Get younger. Plain an simple. Jason Kidd came out of the gate shooting +50% from three, and finished the season without scoring in his final 10 games. He did not score in the month of May. Dole the veteran leadership responsibilities to Tyson Chandler and Carmelo and fill Kidd's spot with an athletic draft pick.

Tim Duncan proved once again why he's the greatest power forward to ever step foot on the court, scoring six out of San Antonio's eight points in overtime.

Tony Parker, while he struggled with his shot—6-of-20 from the field for 15 points—found a different way to impose his will, dishing out 18 assists to his teammates.

Still though, anyone that doesn't find the wizardry of Parker and the uniqueness of Manu Ginobili entertaining quite simply doesn't like basketball. The plays they make and the shots they hit are bewildering at times.

Obviously this series is far from over. Despite being down 2-0, the Grizzlies are a team that commands nothing but the best.

Whether or not a trip to the finals is in the cards is irrelevant. The fact remains that the other four trips were not properly valued.

It's time that the basketball community began giving the Spurs the respect they deserve. After all, father time can only be combated for so long.

The continued excellence that the Spurs have provided will be missed when they're gone. Now, if only that excellence could be appreciated while they are still currently here.

The Broncos have some very good starters coming back in 2013. Quarterback Joe Southwick and nearly all of his receivers are back, as are a few key linemen and a backup running back in Jay Ajayi who seems like he is ready to start.

On defense, there are bigger questions marks. Cornerback is populated by a group of young players with only a moderate amount of playing time, and the defensive line is down one very good player.

When Boise State announced it had kicked starting defensive end Sam Ukwuachu off of the team for an unspecified reason, more than a few Broncos fans were disappointed. But not in Coach Petersen. Coach Pete has shown year after year that he will not compromise his standards.

Kharyee Marshall should be able step up for the Broncos, but with injuries in his history, it is hard to say how effective he will be long term. Sam McCaskill is a 6'3", 246-pound redshirt freshman who could also step up.

When you look up and down the Boise State roster, many of the starting spots have good players on the list. However, many of the backups are not proven, and injuries or suspensions could effect the Broncos in a big way as the season progresses.

Head coach Chris Petersen saw that same kind of trouble last season when some key players on defense went down with injuries. It hindered the things that his team wanted to do and arguably was a factor in the loss to San Diego State. Which, realistically, kept the Broncos out of the BCS.

You have to believe Coach Petersen is concerned about depth over anything else in 2013. Will he have a plan? Will backups step up when needed?

One concern raised in some comments opposing the proposed Rule was the absence of statistical evidence that anchored putting is a superior method of stroke.Their premise was that,without such"scientific evidence",the governing bodies cannot conclude that this technique of making a stroke may alter golf's essential challenge and provide an advantage to the player using it and therefore cannot hope to benefit the game by eliminating the anchoring technique.Although we understand that people often look for statistical data when engaged in a factual and policy debate, we believe that these assertions are misplaced in the present context and reflect a misunderstanding of the rationale for the Rule and the principles on which the Rules of golf are based.

We disagree with the underlying premise that more people would play golf if only equipment and playing Rules were relaxed to enable golfers to hit longer, straighter shots, to make more putts, and/or to post lower scores. The need for skill and the challenge of the game are what define golf;they are in fact what have caused so many people to love and play the gamefor the past 600 years. This enthusiastic embrace of the game as a stout test of skill and challenge prevails as strongly today as ever: in a recent study in the United States, commissioned by the National Golf Foundation, passionate recreational golfers – that is, the U.S. golfers who play most of the rounds and who spend most of the money in golf – indicated that the challenge ofthe game is among the top reasons, if not the top reason, why they are so passionate about golf. Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand seeks new contract - The Guardian

Rio Ferdinand is expected to hold contract talks with Manchester United on a one-year deal, with the central defender expected to seek a similar six-figure sum to his current contract, which earns him around £120,000 a week.

Although any decision is dependent on David Moyes, the incoming manager, whose thoughts regarding Ferdinand have yet to be publicly stated, the 34-year-old is almost certain to be offered terms, given his role in the winning of a 20th title.

After United's 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford on Sunday, Ferdinand remarked it would be "nice" to receive a new contract following a season which Sir Alex Ferguson, the outgoing manager, described as the player's best at the club since joining United from Leeds in the summer of 2002.

Injections for a back ailment have all but eliminated a problem that threatened to end Ferdinand's career two seasons ago and his form has impressed enough for him to earn an England recall, and to be voted into the PFA Premier League team of the year by his peers. Although Roy Hodgson, the England manager, is thought to be considering whether to select him again for the squad for the Republic of Ireland and Brazil friendlies, despite the defender declining his last call-up, this month Ferguson said: "Rio Ferdinand has had his best season at the club. Although we've left him out of certain games, because we have managed him the right way, at the most important times he has been there."

MILWAUKEE (AP) — L . a . Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti tells beleaguered manager Don Mattingly is "doing fine" and possesses kept the team regular despite its last-place showing inside NL West.

Asked if that it was false to say Mattingly is fired this week, Colletti just said: "My perspective doesn't have changed. I'm done dealing with it. "

Colletti says he expects better performances with the players. A lineup including Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier ranks next-to-last within the majors in runs. The Dodgers' bullpen also has become a sore spot.

Today's Copa Del Rey Final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid could have a lot of implications for the Premier League.

The match will be Jose Mourinho's final legacy at Real Madrid, where he has a chance to help the club win their 19th Copa Del Rey trophy. While Real Madrid have two league games remaining after this, the title has already been won by Barcelona, so he'll want to leave Real Madrid with another piece of silverware.

In Real Madrid's way though are cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid who are led by star striker Radamel Falcao, who will be the transfer target of several top Premier League sides despite the Colombian saying that he wants to stay at Atletico.

Rio Ferdinand's late strike ensured that an emotional Old Trafford said goodbye to Sir Alex Ferguson and Paul Scholes fittingly as Manchester United beat Swansea City 2-1 and received the Premier League trophy that had already been clinched.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez poked home close to halftime after an Ashley Williams mistake, but Michu struck soon after the break, exposing a slight lack of verve from United as the momentous occasion occupied the foreground.

In typical Ferguson fashion, though, the Red Devils rallied late on and Ferdinand delivered the fairytale ending when he capitalized on a poorly defended corner for his first goal since 2008.

Scholes lined up for his final home game in a strong team, though Wayne Rooney was excluded from the squad and watched from an executive box as all three of United's other frontline strikers started. Neil Taylor and Michu returned for Swansea while Gerhard Tremmel stood in for Michel Vorm in goal.

Welcomed onto the pitch by a storm of cheers and flags, Ferguson accepted the adoration of Old Trafford before making way, and United started the game aggressively, Chicharito nearly opened the scoring within four minutes when his acutely angled shot came off the underside of the crossbar.

However, the game died down in spite of the occasion, neither side impressing and United occasionally over-elaborating their attacking play.

Finally, though, the hosts got the goal that the day demanded. In the 39th minute, Robin van Persie delivered from a free kick and caught out Williams, whose had the ball bounce off his shin and into the path of Chicharito. The Mexican poked it underneath Tremmel even as he fell back on the wet pitch.

It was nearly two before halftime as Van Persie took aim with his left foot but the Swans keeper deflected it away, United's lead at the break a slender one.

Any chance of a procession evaporated just after the restart, however, when Michu darted in front of the diving Phil Jones and dispatched Nathan Dyer's cross past David de Gea with a clever mid-air finish off the outside of his left boot.

Swansea was a whisker away from a second shortly after when Wayne Routledge nudged his shot just wide of the far post, having been put through down the left by a one-two with Michu. Despite everything, Swansea had more purpose and De Gea had to deny Pablo Hernandez just after the hour mark in a threatening break.

Needing to wake up, United riposted at last but Danny Welbeck's low cross fizzed just out of the lunging Chicharito's reach.

Then came Scholes's goodbye, withdrawn in the 66th minute to a raucous salute but modestly refusing to milk it, sharing only a simple handshake with his manager. His replacement, Anderson, nearly took the roof off when he blasted a long-range just wide.

There was time, too, for a fitting appearance off the bench from Ryan Giggs as the half wore on, Ferguson's most faithful servant there at the last.

It was a more unlikely figure who secured the victory, however, with Ferdinand hammering home his first goal in five years to delight the Old Trafford faithful and his ecstatic boss. As usual, Ferguson's United had found a way in the end.

Rome Masters 2013 Results: Biggest Surprises from Late-Round Action

In the final tune-up before the 2013 French Open, the Rome Masters has brought with it a heap of surprises and twists as we head toward final-round action.

We've seen everything from world-class players going down to emerging stars putting more impressive wins on their resume, and it's far from over in this hotly-contested tournament.

The top-ranked tennis player in the world doesn't usually get bounced in the quarterfinal of any tournament, much less a three-set one like the Rome Masters.

Leading 6-2, 5-2 with one game left at one of his easiest victories yet, Djokovic completely lost focus and folded. Berdych stormed back to take the second set and finished out the third and conclusive set to knock the world No. 1 player out.

Things will likely go a little bit different in Paris next weekend as the five-set scenario often makes it more difficult for elite players to go down. But it can't be a good sign that Djokovic is heading toward the year's second Grand Slam tournament with a glaring loss.

Murray backed out of action at the Rome Masters before his opening match, admitting the disc pain in his back has gotten too bad to play through. His back troubles were well-documented last season as he's played through the injury for some 18 months.

According to the Guardian, Murray said he'd be "very surprised" to play at Paris this weekend to open the French Open. 

Murray wouldn't have been the favorite over the likes of Rafael Nadal in Paris. But for one of the sport's toughest players, who has battled this injury for some time while winning the U.S. Open and Olympic gold, it's nothing less than surprising. 

It's hard to believe any time you hear about Roger Federer trying to win a tournament for the first time. He's won seemingly every event you can win.

Federer is on a favorable side of the bracket heading into his quarterfinal match and has only lost six games through his past two matches. He's clearly on a hot streak and would likely play clay-court king Nadal in the final.

A win over Nadal to grab his first victory at the Rome Masters would be a huge stepping stone heading into the French Open, which is famously played on similar clay courts and which Nadal famously wins year in and year out.
