Michael Vick isn't just competing for the starting up job, he is also competing with the rest of his FOOTBALL future. Kelly's decision to maintain both Nick Foles and draft Matt Barkley shows that he only views Vick as a short-term solution.
But though Vick has the edge in experience and athleticism, he will probably need to battle it out in training camp just as anyone else on that team.
After a stellar 2010 season when he was the runner-up for any MVP award, Vick effective creating in both 2011 along with 2012. Now, with a new head coach, Vick offers the opportunity to prove this his 2010 season were a fluke and that he can still succeed given the appropriate scheme and coaching.
But he cannot work if he is not necessarily the starter. And while one is likely the favorite to help you win the starting job as a result of his experience, Vick is still feeling significant amounts of pressure because of precisely what is at stake.
