29 April 2013 Last current at 10:29 GMT Newcastle United need brave men on the area if the club is to avoid relegation, according to knowledgeable striker Shola Ameobi. Newcastle were thrashed 6-0 at home by Liverpool on Saturday. The result leaves United five things away from the relegation zone, but having played a casino game more than Wigan Athletic in 18th. aThis is a staff that is supported very strongly, which will be perfect for us as people, but change that round and when things aren't going quite as well as you'd enjoy it could become a pressure cookera Ameobi told BBC Newcastle: "We have to ensure brave men have been got by us out there for the last three games." Newcastle's biggest defeat at St James's Park for 87 years left some supporters wondering whether they'll be able to recover quickly enough to pick up the items they may need from their remaining three games. The team will happen to be West Ham and Queens Park Rangers before playing Arsenal at home. Ameobi, who has made over 300 looks in his 12 months with the team, said a particular aspect of the defeat worried him a lot more than every other. "The most disappointing thing was we did not have that result which we usually do. We did not pull our sleeves up and decide to try and stem the flow of objectives, and this week we'll be considering that and getting it right," he explained. "I think the one thing we have to understand as a team and people is that we can't rely on anyone else - you have to head out and do yourself to it and grab it. "This is a group that is recognized very strongly, which will be perfect for us as participants, but switch that around and when things are not going quite as well as you had enjoy it can become a pressure cooker. "But that is the game of some thing and soccer as participants we've to deal with, and the team that deals with it the best - that copes under the difficulties - could be the team that will remain up. " Ameobi, 31, was an abandoned alternative against Liverpool, but following the game Newcastle manager Alan Pardew suggested he might look to use people with more experience for the run-in. "This game does not give you anything, you've to go out there and work hard, and continue to work hard, because if you do not the game will move you by, other teams get better and better and we have discovered that this season," said Ameobi. "But as a group we've to remain together and focused. We now have three pot finals when we've to ensure we are right bang at it."
