Phil Steele has Texas A&M predicted as a top-five team going into next period. ESPN's Mark Schlabach has them in his top five. Why? Apart from Johnny Manziel and an amazing crime, what do the Aggies have going for them? Name the last staff centered on the SEC that was won by offensive firepower. No one in recent times. Certain, Auburn had a fantastic offense led by Cam Newton, and last season's Alabama offense ended up to be acutely productive, but the key bit of A&M's group that folks are missing is the defense. Damontre Moore, Sean Porter and Jonathan Stewart are typical gone, and thus far, nobody has seemed to have the major play potential with this season's group that some of those three people had last season. It is possible that Aggies report 60-plus points every game and only outscore every team they face. Nevertheless, that's maybe not occurred, particularly in the SEC, in some time now, so it's difficult to select the Aggies so high when so much ability is fully gone from the defense. So while there's concern about the defense, the routine could compensate for all those problems during the regular time, however it is hard to see A&M winning an SEC concept with the defense as is.
