5-Year Forecasts for the Edmonton Oilers Young Stars

May RNH shake off the sophomore problems and become among the NHL's elite players?Perry Nelson/Getty Pictures Regrettably for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, his sophomore season has not gone quite as in the offing. After registering 18 goals and 34 assists in his rookie campaign, 'The Nuge' has just managed to score three goals this year and a complete of 22 points. Though the things haven't been there this year, Nugent-Hopkins has continued to build up in to one of the Oilers' most effective players, and with another season under his belt he should be prepared to take the next step in his profession while entering his third season in 2013-2014. Next five months Nugent-Hopkins could develop into one of many NHL's top playmakers, he has the on-ice vision and the elusiveness with the puck to avoid taking critical visitors while finding his open teammates. Assuming that he re-signs with Edmonton after next year, and continues to increase with the groups' small nucleus of people, his point totals should continue to rise. RNH has the ability to be both an objective scorer and a male, and while comparisons to Pavel Datsyuk could be unfair at this time, the potential is certainly there for the Burnaby native to climb the ranks of the NHL's elite. 5-year projections 2013-2014: 15G - 40A - 55P Accepting RNH can regain the proper execution he experienced in his rookie season, points should be registered at least 50 by him. 2014-2015: 21G - 43A - 64P This should function as the year that RNH begins to just take the next thing, his last year in the category should see his offensive area faceoff proportion rise, ultimately causing an increase in points. He also needs to have done his small shape by this time as effectively, creating him even harder to remove of the puck. 2015-2016: 25G - 45A - 70P It remains unseen whether or not RNH will take the alternative but if he does continue to increase and develop with his teammates it's not a reach to believe he will be at least a 70 point person by his sixth season in the NHL. 2016-2017: 28G - 45A - 73P If Nugent-Hopkins has not made the leap to elite status in the NHL by now, his point totals will probably hover around the 60-70 point plateau. Nevertheless if he has found his pace in the category and asserted his role on a team, the details might move in. 2017-2018: 30G - 45A It's difficult to assume where a person will be five periods from now, but assuming that injuries have not happened and development is being made, I think Nugent-Hopkins will reach at least 30 objectives by this point in his profession.
