01/04/2013 15:23, Report by Adam Bostock Alexander BAttner's barnstorming present at Sunderland has been rewarded along with his first Man of the Match award as a Manchester United player. The Dutch left-back created only his third category appearance for the Reds as Sir Alex Ferguson's men won 1-0 to keep a lead over Manchester City. And as well as doing his normal defensive duties well, he brought to the assault with a raid in to the penalty box and an attempt from range, both which had to be dealt with by Black Cats goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. His performance was duly observed by United fans around the globe, and he received 49 per cent of the votes cast on ManUtd.com with runner-up Michael Carrick gathering 35 per cent. BAttner's fellow defenders, namely chief Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans, were also shortlisted for the Sunderland poll. More -ABAttner: No let-up in the league
