Arsenal FC will spend this summer as Villa, Lopez, Cavani linked with AFC - Crunchsports.com

Arsenal, who earlier this year announced half-year profits of £17.8million to the end of November 2012 and cash reserves of £123.3m, have gone eight years since they last won a trophy, and Wenger has appeared to be reluctant to spend huge sums of money in the transfer market.

The Gunners continue to be linked with a number of players, with Barcelona forward David Villa and Atletico Madrid's Adrian Lopez still believed to be on their shopping list, while Napoli striker Edinson Cavani was rumoured to be a January transfer target.

There are calls from Arsenal fans for Wenger to spend big when the transfer window reopens, and Dein believes the Frenchman will do just that.

"He has done a phenomenal job and continues to do so year-on-year. He has the fire in his belly. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be there.

"Arsene's on course for next season's Champions League. But they have fallen 20-odd points behind United, which is not good enough."
