Seriously laughable: Fulham target Lampard but don't assume Chelsea story to... - Mirror.co.uk

"He is England's most successful midfielder in 30 or 40 years. He'll have a smile on his face if he listens to us but I had love to have him" sighs Jol Frank Brunskill Martin Jol would love Frank Lampard at Craven Cottage - but reckons he's staying at Chelsea. Lampard is out of contract in the summertime and Jol, who Fulham side variety the Blues in a London derby on Wednesday, wants groups to be queuing as much as signal the England star. The overall game at Craven Cottage is expected to see Lampard make his 600th appearance for the Blues, but his future is still up in the air - to the extent that even his planned summer wedding to TELEVISION presenter Christine Bleakley is on ice. The 34-year-old has gained almst every significant honour during his 12 years at Stamford Bridge - and that is why Jol reckons he'll get offered a fresh deal. The Fulham boss said: "He may be the most profitable midfield players in England within the last 30 or 40 years. "Everyone would love to have him. He is healthy and is a good figure. "He may have a look on his experience if he listens to Fulham but I'd love to have him. But it is hypothetical as he'll never play for Fulham - I am uncertain he'll play for a top-10 group. "He is just a legend - a living legend over there. The prizes were won all by him over there. In the long run I've a sense they will hold him." There might well be space for Lampard in Fulham's midfield, as Jol explains here: After losing the kind of Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele and Danny Murphy last year, there again seems set to be yet another high turnover of midfielders at Craven Cottage. Giorgos Karagounis, Mahamadou Diarra, Chris Baird and Simon Davies have all yet to give their agreements past the end of the summer season. The on-loan quartet of Urby Emanuelson, Emmanuel Frimpong, Stanislav Manolev and Eyong Enoh also see their stays expire in the summer, though Fulham have a choice to really make the latter duo's moves lasting. "If you consider the defence, I do believe we are fine," the Dutchman said. "If you go through the midfield, I think Steve Sidwell has become the only one left if you think of all people we'd six or seven weeks ago. We have to do anything. "In midfield we could make a move since there is just one or two left. Karagounis can also be on a one-year deal so Sidwell is probably the just one who's on a long-term contract." And Jol demonstrably has faith in experienced players - the Cottagers' first XI has the oldest average age in the Premier League. Keeper Mark Schwarzer is 40, but has hinted at leaving in summer time, when his agreement is up, if he's not still first option. Jol is seeking to signal a and has told Schwarzer he will need certainly to contend for his position. Aussie rules... but for simply how much longer? Schwarzer's Fulham potential is in question Clive Mason The Dutchman added: "We are seeking a good goalkeeper, so if Mark decides to remain I'll have two good goalkeepers. "Plus, David Stockdale, he's still there. I have to talk to him. We are looking for a goalkeeper since Stockdale is frustrated being the amount two. "We usually look for a goalkeeper. Could you look for a garbage goalkeeper or perhaps a great goalkeeper? You always locate a good goalkeeper, so that is what we are doing. "But Mark Schwarzer is for us almost a hero. He saves games for us, therefore I want him to remain, but we're looking for a goalkeeper." Fulham Schwarzer; Riether, Hangeland, Senderos, Richardson; Karagounis, Enoh; Manolev, Ruiz, Emanuelson; Berbatov. Chelsea Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Bertrand; Ramires, Lampard; Moses, Mata, Hazard; Torres.
